Friday afternoon Beading Group

Saturday, 16 May 2009

As a change from sitting in courts and visiting alleged murders in prison, Robin relaxes by belonging to a Friday afternoon Beading Group. She and her friends make lovely jewellery for their own use, for gifts and for sale. Robin currently supplies galleries in Daylesford, South Melbourne, Hobart and Darwin. Last month, the Beading Girls held a fundraiser for the Marysville Lions Club, displaying and selling their beautiful items at the home of Sue Trethowan-Jones in Brighton. Over $4000 was netted to donate to the Lions. The club will use the money to buy 50 wheelbarrows and power tools for the tool library being set up in Marysville.

Sue has also written a fascinating book, Gems of a Generation. It’s the mini biographies of the 14 beading friends, al icons in their own ways, including humourous and serious advice on aging, plastic surgery, euthanasia, most embarrassing moments and much more. Books can be ordered at $25 from Robin via robin@robinbowles.com.au or directly from Sue on suetrethjones@iprimus.com.au No profits are made on this book. Sales are donated to the Melbourne Cancerians, to support cancer research.
